Holiday Art Journal Series - Page 1

Updated: Nov 3, 2022

Hello crafty friends, today I am sharing the tutorial on how to create this fun Art Journal Series that I am planning to keep going until Christmas!

Today we are creating the first page of the Art Journal. We will use Christmas Truck Set by Art Impressions and the Christmas Sentiments Set.

I cut blank thick watercolor papers into 4.5" X 6" using my Paper Trimmer and I punch them using the Disc Punch and used discs to attach them together to create the journal.

Now that our Art Journal is ready, let's begin creating our first page!

For the sky background, I cut a scrap of paper by hand to give this vintage worn-out look and then I ink blended light blue Distress Ink shades. I wasn't evenly blending so it looks like cloudy look of the sky.

The blue shades I used are: Speckled Egg, Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feather.

To create the splashes on the background, I pressed my ink pads against my Glass Mat, and sprayer it with water then picked it with a paint brush and flicked it on my paper. These splashes give extra visual texture to the sky background.

I used the tree die from the Winter Planner Essentials Die Set to cut the Christmas trees from Bristol Smooth White Paper and used my Die Cutting Machine. I die but the trees twice and glued both on top of each other to make them dimensional and sturdy.

To complement the worn-out look of our sky, I inked the edges of the background scrap with Vintage Distress Ink color and glued the background directly on my Art Journal Page.

I cut two snowy hillsides, again with my hand to match with the background edges, and attached them with foam tape on top of the background. I lightly brushed BG10 Copic Marker on the top edges of the snow hillside to look like snow and to make them stand out.

I used my Mini Misti and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the snowman from Christmas Truck set and colored it with Copic markers.

Copic Shades:

Reds: R27 R29

Greys: C8 C3 C2

Greens: YR25 YR67

Snowy Shades: BG10

With foam tape I attached my snowman between the two snow hillsides. I stamped "Let it Snow" from the Christmas Sentiments set with Mermaid Lagoon Archival ink on the top most Snow Bank.

I then decorated with snowy enamel dot colors.
